Asif Shaikh
“Encouraging,” “motivational,” “passionate” and “shepherding” are just a few words that describe Asif and what he brings to ministry. With an evangelistic heart and a desire to disciple and pastor people of all ages, Asif spent the first 15 years with CRU and Athletes In Action loving on college students in the Tampa Bay area at the University of South Florida, University of Tampa and St. Petersburg College.
Asif and his wife, Leaha, then felt the call to spend a year living on Capitol Hill in D.C. serving as Church Planters in Residence at National Community Church where New York Times Best Selling Author Mark Batterson is the Lead Pastor. (Circle Maker, Chase the Lion, Win The Day)
He has had the opportunity to lead college students and NFL football players on mission trips to Jamaica, Panama, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. Asif serves as an Olympic chaplain. He has had the opportunity to lead Bible studies and chapels at the Summer Olympics (London, Rio, Paris) the Winter Olympics (Sochi & South Korea), the Pan American Games (Mexico & Canada), the World Track and Field Championships (South Korea, Qatar, Eugene & Budapest), the World Indoor Track and Field Championships in Belgrade & Glasgow, the World Bobsledding Championships (Lake Placid), the World 3x3 Basketball Championships (Amsterdam), and the U.S. men’s national soccer team at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Asif also has a ministry to the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) doing weekly chapels through Zoom video. God has opened a door for weekly discipleship of professional athletes and chaplains in various sports.
Asif and Leaha have been married for 24 years and they currently live in Seminole, Florida. Leaha is a Tutor for Spanish and English Speakers through La Profe LLC www.laprofe.net They have 2 daughters, one at the University of Florida and one at Vanderbilt University.
